I'm not ashamed to admit that I've booked and paid for my ticket aboard the Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland bandwagon!
The internet buzz was SO hyped that it would have been criminal for me to ignore it! – Well that’s my excuse anyway!
The palette was launched on the Debenhams website on February 21st a week earlier than its store release, and it was sold out within hours!
The palette consists of 12 shadows; mostly neutrals with a few accent colours. The textures of the shadows are smooth and creamy, you could even say velvety. If you’re looking for mattes this is not the palette for you as there are a few shimmery-glitter bombs, but the magpie in me can live with that!

My favourite standout colour is uhm ...I don’t actually have one! Nothing in this palette stands out to me as WOW!! I do like Alice (Painkiller), but that doesn’t justify its price tag! Although, if you calculate the cost of each shadow it works out to be about £1.75 each, and if you thrown in the liners and primers it’s even less. (Ok so I guess I just justified it! :s)
The AIW is my second Urban Decay palette. I managed to track down the Book of Shadows II a few weeks ago in the Oxford Circus Debenhams after contemplating spending silly money for it on eBay! - Since buying it, it’s remained in its carrier bag. Therefore, I can’t say I’m an expert on UD shadows and how well they last etcetera!
So what do I think of it? I like the mix of colours, and I like the shadow names! I even like the novelty of the pop up (although mine does not stay up! - get your minds out the gutter!) BUT would I have bought it if not for the hype? Probably not! But I am glad I own it!
If you already own the Book of Shadows II you will find 4 familiar colours; Mushroom (Mushroom), Midnight Tea Party (Midnight Cowboy Rides Again), Absolem (Homegrown), and Mad Hatter (Twice Baked).
Also included in the palette is a travel sized Primer Potion and two glide-on eye pencils in Zero and Flipside. - Can I just say that these are a b*tch to get out of the palette unless you tip the bloody thing upside down or have extremely skinny fingers. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a deal breaker but my gosh it gets annoying after a while!
Now like always the fun bit; swatches!

For swatches on fairer skintones please check out my girl Charlene not her real name! - Her real name's Charlotte but I call her Charlene ...WAIT!! Why am I even telling you this?! :s

those colours are gorgeous!
If I can't get my hands on it I'll snatch the permanent palettes as they contain some of the colors in there.
Nice haul!
